Strangers on a Train 1951
Strangers on a Train is often seen as a return to form for Hitchcock after a disappointing couple of years in the late Forties. A consistent theme throughout the film is that of doubles: the film centres on two men, there are two influential fathers, there are two women with glasses and so on. Hitchcock’s cameo, in which he carries a double bass, is seen as a humorous homage to that theme.
