Player Bio
On September 8, 1990, in Newport Beach, California, this professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees was born. He earned national notice when his fastball touched 94 miles per hour while pitching for the varsity team at Orange Lutheran High School in his junior year. A 4-time All-Star team member, this player was taken in the first round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Yankees with the 28th overall pick. This made him the first player ever drafted out of Orange Lutheran High School. Despite this, he went to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on a baseball scholarship. Our baseballer was chosen first overall in the 2011 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He signed a minor league contract with an $8 million signing bonus, the largest ever given to a rookie. He has pitched for the Arizona Fall League's Mesa Solar Sox, the Class A-Advanced Florida State League's Bradenton Marauders, the Class AA Eastern League's Altoona Curve, and the Class AAA International League's Indianapolis Indians. 2019's MLB strikeout leader made his MLB debut for the Pirates on June 11, 2013. Our pitcher agreed to a nine-year, $324 million deal with the Yankees on December 18, 2019. Earlier, he was traded to the Houston Astros on January 13, 2018.ncG1vNJzZmivp6x7uMDFqKatZpOkunC8y5qwnqpfnLKzvsitZJynnJp6rrjBaA%3D%3D
