20-year-old Casey Conroy is an alt-pop singer/songwriter from Orlando, Florida and is quickly making a name for herself within the industry. She has previously released some singles but has mainly stayed local to the Florida music scene. However the rising star has today (April 19th) released a a new single; “I Want U, which is set to be followed shortly by an EP. With this track she is looking to branch out and start releasing worldwide.

Here we chat exclusively to Casey Conroy to discuss her new release, 2019 goals and more:

What kind of reception are you hoping to receive from fans around the globe with your new single, I Want U?

I really just hope they think it’s cool! I hope when they hear it, it feels like something fresh and new, something they haven’t heard before. I love “I Want U” because I feel like it’s something I would want to show my friends if I heard it and I hope people everywhere want to do the same!

How would you describe the overall vibe of the new track?

I used this sentence once to describe it and it’s kinda stuck on me: A 20 year old girl dreaming of Bee Gee’s “Love You Inside Out” and Toto’s “Georgy Porgy” in 2019. It’s inspired by old school music so the vibe is kinda chill but it still really makes you want to move.

What is the main inspiration behind the single?

A few months ago my producer and I rented a studio for three days straight and just said “let’s go in with no preconceptions or limitations and let whatever feels right happen”. “I Want U” is a product of that. I feel like it’s my first time as an artist truly letting loose and being completely in touch with who I am in this moment.

What are you hoping fans take from the track?

I hope it’s the kind of song people drive around singing along to alone in their car because it makes them feel good! I played the song at a festival recently and the audience started singing the chorus so passionately and it was the coolest feeling ever. It was like they really resonated with the idea that in the end, everybody wants something.

You also have an EP on the horizon, what can we expect from that project?

That’s the plan but I’m not sure yet. I’ve been writing music like crazy on a lot of different vibes so I’m not sure where I want to go yet. I might just release singles for a while and see what happens.

Now you’re sharing more music worldwide, can we expect a tour from you soon?

I hope so! I think once I drop a bit more music we’ll definitely be looking at making that happen. Live shows might be my favorite part of music so playing as much as possible is one of my biggest goals right now!

What are your main goals for this year?

I’d love to get an opening slot on a cool tour! That’s definitely a dream of mine. Other than that, just consistently releasing new music so I can keep organically growing my fan base.
