Champions League winner odds 2023-24: City favourites after draw

June 2024 · 3 minute read

After six straight wins in the Champions League group stage, Manchester City will be no less pleased with a draw – the one on Friday that has handed them a round-of-16 tie against Copenhagen.

The bookmakers can’t see past a City victory and have trimmed the odds on them retaining the trophy to 15/8. England’s other representatives, Arsenal, are 6/1 after being drawn to face Porto.

Bayern Munich are 4/1 second favourites and Real Madrid are the next in the betting at 11/2 to lift the trophy for what would be the 15th time.

Champions League betting: City the big favourites

Manchester City will be confident of progressing to the last eight of the Champions League after being paired with Copenhagen in the round of 16.

City took maximum points from their six group matches to qualify with ease, while Copenhagen beat Galatasaray in their final game in Group A to go through in second place behind Bayern Munich. The Danish side, who are 500/1 shots, also defeated Manchester United 4-3 during their campaign.

Real Madrid are priced at 11/2 for success again in this competition and will take on German side RB Leipzig (66/1) in the round of 16. The clubs met in the group stage of the 2022-23 competition, when both won their home ties, but Real have since added Jude Bellingham and will start as favourites.

Bayern Munich are 4/1 and face Italian side Lazio, who are 11th in Serie A and 150/1 in the betting. Thomas Tuchel’s side will be expected to beat the Serie A outfit with Harry Kane leading the line.

Another side firmly in contention this season are Arsenal, who are 6/1 to become champions of Europe for the first time. Mikel Arteta’s side face Porto over two legs and have a slight edge in the head-to-head record with the Portuguese side, winning three, losing two and drawing one.

PSG, who are fifth in the betting at 12/1, take on Real Sociedad in the round of 16. The Spanish club are 66/1 and could be a surprise package this season having topped their qualifying group.
